Season 53 review

Written by PEKAC B at 15:16 14/8-2020

After season 52, where there was nothing to review, we are back with an hindsight on season 53.

As usual, there were only successes and failures. Let start with the failures:

  - Classico di Siracusa, Rotterdam Classic, Netherlandse Tour: management failure, because of miscalculations and wrong expectations, we always had too many points.
  - Perm Tour: Alfred Vinkie (2nd): With so low competition and so little top form captains, it is hardly possible to gain enough time for a weaker TTer and frankly speaking, Vinkie is a weaker TTer than Jussi Dahlkvist. It was deserved win for Qvibra Pro Cyclingte.
  - Grasse – Toulon: Ivan Demenok (2nd): Only the victory counts so yes, it was a failure.
  - Germany Tour: Corrado Giara (2nd): To the extent to which 2nd spot in the most prestigious tour of the OCM calendar with a 34yo rider can be called failure. But only the victory counts so yes, it was a failure.
  - World Championship: Your team participated in World Championships. Ronny Hellgren finished 12 th as your best rider. Ronny Hellgren had an off day. Falko Stallmaier had an off day. No further comment is needed, we should only be happy that we decided not to trigger Stallmaier´s top form.
  - Vuelta a Valparaìso: Carsten Kronborg (2nd): Out of 5 GC important stages, 4 of them were affected by a Carsten´s bad day. Although he won the remaining one, we see this as a significant performance issue. Carsten is leaving the team.

  Successes:
  - We managed to participate in the most of the races we scheduled across multiple divisions, in one season, we raced Monte Rosa Tour, CZ-SK cup, Edmonton Red Deer Tour, Norway Tour, Hawaii Classic, Perm Tour, Lappi Sea GP, Grasse – Toulon, Vuelta a Valparaìso; Copa Salsa de Cali (not scheduled) Helsinki GP (not scheduled, no TF), Germany Tour, Critérium La Provence and WC; except from Helsinki GP all races with top form captains.
  - Out of those 14 races, we gathered 7 jerseys or trophies. In addition to that, we were rewarded by the “Gold Tour Contender” and “Bronze Winner” badges. In the 7 remaining races, we have five 2nd spots and another 2 top 9 results; 23 wins and more than 4k points.

There are some plans for season 54 when we want to focus on top division jerseys and trophies we still miss. Bergen Rundtour and Patryk Drozdowski Trophy Cup are the main objectives but we may try to get Vuelta de los Castillos SC as well. We also want to be competitive on the top of the ranking again but may need to find a strong sprinting captain for that.

Thanks! I confirm that some planning was required for all of that.

I´ve founs some other nice combinations of races for the future.

It is however quite boring for me not to compete the whole season to be ready on the right spot so can´t be doing such events too often.
